Michael Votto is an attorney, entrepreneur, and wine enthusiast from New Haven County, Connecticut. Michael is currently the Chairman and CEO of Votto Vines Importing. Votto Vines Importing is the first wine importing company ever to be named by Forbes as one of America’s Most Promising Companies and to earn a place on the Inc. 500, as one of the fastest growing companies in America.

Growing up in suburban Connecticut, I learned the value of hard work from my parents and grandparents, who were first- and second-generation Americans. I had my first job at age seven — a paper route in my neighborhood that I did for seven years, then launched my first business when I was fifteen — a seasonal painting company that I ran every summer during high school and college with two of my closest friends and teammates. I also derived a competitive spirit and work ethic from playing sports in high school and college.
A semester abroad in Florence, Italy in college changed the trajectory of my life in numerous ways (namely meeting my wife, who was on the same term abroad). Later, I was the first person in my family to go to law school and in 2009 I launched a wine importing business with four family members as a passion project that eventually took off.
Entrepreneurship is in my DNA and perhaps in yours as well. Being a father and husband are my favorite roles, including coaching youth sports, cooking with my family and exploring new places. Most days you will find a fluffy Goldendoodle sitting under my desk. He’s my third child and my favorite business partner.
